Accusations of Inappropriate Touching Leap from 3 to 12 for Peoria Teacher

Accusations of Inappropriate Touching

In early May, the principal of Sun Valley Elementary School called the police to report an accusation that a fifth-grade teacher had inappropriately touched an 11-year-old student.

One week later, on May 14, 2019, police arrested 43-year-old Ricky Ordway. During their initial investigation, law enforcement discovered a total of 3 children who had been allegedly touched by Ordway. As a result, the man was charged with 5 counts of child molestation and 1 count of sexual abuse.

Recently, however, a grand jury indicted Ordway on 24 child sex crimes. The felonies were committed against a total of 12 victims, who were all under 15 years old at the time of the abuse.

Ordway now faces 6 counts of child molestation, 15 counts of attempted child molestation, and 3 counts of sexual abuse.

Most crimes occurred between August 2018 and May 31, 2019, but 4 incidents took place between June 2010 and August 2011.

Ordway was employed by the Peoria Unified School District from August 2016 until he was placed on administrative leave on May 8, 2019.

According to the Maricopa County Superior Court website, Ordway will appear in court on October 14th.
