Montoya, Lucero & Pastor, P.A. represents 18 victims of clergy sexual abuse in lawsuits against the Catholic Church. The news piece aired after ten of the lawsuits were filed in early / mid June 2013. The pattern of behavior we uncovered from the first few cases was that the Church would find out its priest was sexually abusing children; the priest would be quickly removed from the parish and re-assigned to a different parish in a different geographic region. We believe we uncovered a systematic attempt to re-assign pedophile priests to poor neighborhoods. We found that rarely, if ever, would a pedophile priest be reassigned to a church in a more affluent neighborhood. The first case was scheduled to start trial in February 2014, unfortunately we were never able to test our theories and evidence to a jury because the Catholic Church filed Bankruptcy on November 12, 2013. The firm is currently in bankruptcy litigation with the Catholic Church waiting for the church to liquidate assets to pay my clients. We are schedule for mediation in June / July 2015.
